And the Gift Certificate Winner Is…

Wow, this last contest was really something. You guys came up with lots of great ideas, more than I ever imagined.

I do want to explain that I don’t plan on making everything that was suggested. In many cases, I already make the item (or something similar); I tried to link to those in the comments so please scroll through and take a look.

Also, I don’t like to reinvent the wheel, so if something you suggested is already being done really well by someone else, I probably won’t take the time to make my own.

Two items that were asked for a few times were yoga cards and President cards. Those would be huge projects for me (those would definitely be paid items, not freebies), and have already been done better than I could do them, so I don’t plan on making them. You can find them at any major bookstore, or online here:

Yoga Pretzels Card Deck from Montessori Services

U.S. Presidents Flash Cards from Barnes & Noble

This also applies to things that you can find at teacher stores: reading comprehension workbooks, holiday workbooks, etc. Many of the materials mentioned can also be found just by Googling; there are lots of websites with printables for kids.

Even before this post, I had started the process of collecting pictures for Fundamental Needs cards (shelter, medicine, clothing, etc.) but that’s a big job so expect those maybe mid-summer.

I definitely have added many of the suggestions to my list of new work to make, but as you can imagine, you’ll be seeing those come out from time to time, not all at once :)

Now, the part you’ve all been waiting for; the winner of the gift certificate is:

Congratulations, Ryan! I will email your certificate to you. For everyone else, one last consolation prize:

If you left a comment on the “Gift Certificate” post, please email me at montessoriforeveryone@gmail.com and let me know one PDF you’d like for $4.99 or less – for free!

Thank you all for your participation and for a fantastic month of contests!
