Hi, Carey! In elementary, many subjects are studied that do not have specific “lessons” to go along with them. These include other countries and cultures as I mentioned in my post. There is a lot of room for the teacher to include information from many sources (reference books, the internet) as well as their own lives.

I absolutely agree that the materials are of the utmost importance, especially in 3-6.

I agree Lori that the teacher brings themselves into the classroom, but, I worry that sometimes people are bring a lot from out of montessori in and we are losing the “montessori” piece of our classrooms. In Montessori Life, there was an article devoted to “Are the Materials important” and I believe that they are. I would say that what you are referencing are extensions of the original lessons. Do you agree?
