Great giveaway – please enter me. I haven’t used a lot of Montessori materials, but in hindsight, Montessori would have made my son’s life so much easier. We are trying to add a Montessori feel to our homeschool days.

I love Montessori and would love to win this giveaway!

My favorite material is the checkerboard. I was traditionally schooled, and I remember not understanding why you indented for each column in multi-digit multiplication. It all made sense once I was introduced to the checkerboard!

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Natasha Nyberg said at December 6th, 2010 at 12:37 pm :

My favorite Montessori material is the “parts of” puzzles. My daughter loves them so much. She has spent hours upon hours doing them, and then doing them again (kind of the point, I know!). She has never really cared for traditional interlocking puzzles though, so it is nice to see her enjoying these. They have captured her attention in a way that none of the other materials she has have. I hope to be able to get the continent puzzles for her some time soon.

  • Erin said at December 6th, 2010 at 12:39 pm :

Exciting giveaway! My favorite Montessori work/material is table washing. It took a long time for me to understand the point (I mean, just get the table clean, right?) and the secondary skills that were being developed.

My favorit Montessori materials are the beautiful map puzzles. My grandmother was quite the traveller and papered the walls of her tiny bedroom with maps from the places she had visited. I used to go into her room and marvel at those maps!

  • UmmOmar said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:39 pm :

I love so many Montessori materials, but I’d have to say I love the teen board because it really simplified place value for my daughter and helped her to grasp the concept.

  • Patricia LaBrie said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:39 pm :

I love this website. I have just started a preschool and have used so much of your materials in class. My son was at a Montessori school for 2 years while we were overseas and he just loved it. My student has developed such strong life skills in the short time that he has been here it is wonderful to see how the Montessori method helps children grow into strong and independent learners.

This give-away will help my students in so many ways!

  • UmmOmar said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:43 pm :

Just added you to my blogroll!

  • Bess said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:45 pm :

It’s hard to name my favorite… I would have to go with the golden beads. My 2 year old daughter’s favorites are the pink tower and the sound cylinders. My 1 year old son like the cubes on a dowel. I would LOVE to win this. I purchased our home classroom from Alisons but I did not get the Tracing Board.

I know you didn’t ask but I would use the gift certificate for the continent study set. It has been on my wish list for a long time. We already have the continent boxes but they are sadly lacking. Our daughter was recently diagnosed with a chronic illness which is why we chose to teach Montessori at home long and invest in the authentic materials. Her treatment has exhausted our funds for the time being. This will be a blessing to whoever receives it!

  • Kelly said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:51 pm :

Wow this would be great. We are just about to start with the sandpaper letters and don’t have an uppercase set.

  • Tricia said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:52 pm :

My 3 year old son is starting Montessori school on Jan 3 – we are all so excited as we know it will be ideal for him! Would love to have materials at home to assist in his learning.! I love your blog- it is very enlightening to those of us that are new to Montessori. I think my favorite material so far are the sandpaper letters. I think it is so intersting how they learn to “trace” them with two fingers in order to get the muscle memory for holding a writing utensil. Thanks!

  • Jamie said at December 6th, 2010 at 1:55 pm :

My kids attend the first public montessori program in our school idstrict in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and I’m working with them on getting more supplies in the classroom. We already several things from both of these places on our list of items to buy after fundraising efforts. This would be a great addition! Thanks! Jamie

  • Sara Wolford said at December 6th, 2010 at 2:20 pm :

We are just learning about the montessori ways. My daughter is about to turn 2 and I believe her school will begin to introduce this into the classroom soon.
Currently her favorite montessori “toys” are the small pitchers. She loves to serve herself and to see the pride beaming from her makes it my favorite toy as well.

  • Christine said at December 6th, 2010 at 2:22 pm :

My favorite is the golden beads. It can be used as soon as they understand and it encourages such focus and to work to completion. It can be used for years if understood at an early age.

  • katpat23 said at December 6th, 2010 at 3:00 pm :

The Montessori material of choice is a continent map with all the countries on it. We’ve been studying WWI with a home-ed co-op, and being able to pull out a lot of the central European puzzle pieces to illustrate the Central or Axis powers was a brilliant lesson for our 6-9 year olds.

  • kc said at December 6th, 2010 at 3:16 pm :

  • Julie said at December 6th, 2010 at 4:54 pm :

Working in a Children’s House it is fun to see the children discover all the materials. The most popular at the moment would have to be the nut cracking activity. Cracking the walnuts being the fun part, but then to see them walking throughout the classroom serving others and sharing the nuts is quite rewarding.

I teach a first through third grade mentally disabled class and have been amazed with the progress my students have made using Montessori materials. They have learned how to read and follow their individual work plans. It is so exciting to watch them become more independent. I have used many of your free materials and appreciate you sharing with other educators. I’ve also purchased the pink and blue ELA materials. Thank you for such an informative web site and for sharing your love and knowledge of children.

My favorite Montessori material are the sandpaper letters. I love watching a child learn and have an interest in the letters and sounds with the touch of the letters.

  • Andrea said at December 7th, 2010 at 9:18 pm :

Wow! My favorite Montessori material would have to be the pink tower, because it is my kids’ favorite. They never get tired of it, it’s so chipped and worn! Fun giveaway! Alison’s and Montessori for Everyone are two of my favorite places.

I am currently taking a course to become a certified Montessori teacher. I live in Germany so the course is only offered in German. I have learned a great deal through the course, but your website has been quite helpful in bringing what I have learned in German to my mother tongue.

My favorite Montessori material so far is the “Markenspiel” or the Stamp Game. I teach in an international school that is not Montessori based, but some of us have been introducing the materials and concepts.

    Thanks for doing the giveaway!

I have enjoyed your blog and learned so much about Montessori. I like so much of it, but I would say my daughter’s favorite are the part cards. Where they can identify the parts of an object the cards represent (Parts of a plant, frog, fish, horse, etc.). She loves to make little books from the pages she has colored and labeled.
